Trust the Experts When You Invest in Jewelry

We understand you want to make smart decisions when buying jewelry.  This is why it is important to shop with a jeweler who has not only been in business for a number of years but has an excellent reputation.  Family-owned Padis Jewelry has both.  Steve Padis started the business in 1974 and it is considered to be the place to go to in the Bay Area for excellent values and an outstanding inventory.

We are also proud to be one of only 5% of jewelers in the country who are accredited members of the American Gem Society (AGS).  The AIG is the country's preeminent jewelry trade organization and is dedicated to consumer protection.  The membership guarantees that AIG accredited jewelers strictly adhere to the highest standards of measurement and quality.

Furthermore, several of our non-commission sales consultants are GIA Graduate Gemologists and our showrooms have two of them available at all times.  This means you receive reliable, educated information about the stones you are buying as our Gemologists are trained in the GIA grading system and the 4Cs used to accurately rate the value of diamonds.  The GIA established the “4Cs” (color, clarity, cut, and carat weight) as well as the International Diamond Grading System™ in the 1940s and are still the standards used today.
In addition all of our certified loose diamonds over 0.40 carats come with an independent grading report that assesses the stone’s overall quality and authenticity.  We invite you to browse our online inventory and then set up an appointment to come in to one of our showrooms in downtown San Francisco.  Also we have a store in St. Helena in Napa Valley.

Shop Our Beautiful Collection of September’s Birthstone Jewelry

Padis Jewelry store has a great selection of sapphires, which is September’s birthstone.  The word sapphire comes from the Greek word “sappheiros” and means blue stone.  However while blue may be the most well-known color of sapphires, the gemstones are made from any color of corundum except for red, which are rubies.

Blue sapphires got a lot of attention after the famous blue sapphire engagement ring that Princess Diana received from Prince Charles in 1981 but the stone has been around for centuries.  It was believed to protect its owners from envy and harm by the Ancient Greeks and Romans, and in the Middle Ages, the stones were worn by the clergy and thought to symbolize Heaven.

In addition to blue, fancy sapphires range in color from green, violet-blue, yellow, orange, pink and purple hued stones.  Sapphires are mainly mined in Sri Lanka, Ceylon, Burma (Myanmar), Thailand, Cambodia, Madagascar, Tanzania, Australia, and the U.S. (Montana).

The most famous blue sapphires were from the Kashmir region of India/Pakistan and mined over a hundred years ago.  Very few examples of Kashmir sapphires exist today and then mainly in museums or in photographs.  The stones have a beautiful cornflower blue color.  One 22.66 carat cushion-cut Kashmir sapphire set in a pendant surrounded by diamonds was sold in 2007 at auction for a record $3,064,000. While that breaks down to $135,000 per carat, and was a new record for a sapphire, some gemologists said it was far from the best example of a Kashmir sapphire but rather indicated the stone’s rarity.

While we may not carry Kashmir sapphires, we do have a stunning selection of sapphires that are a part of the Padis Signature Collection.  Visit our website to view our jewelry and for contact information.

Find a Wide Selection of A.JAFFE Designs at Padis

Padis Jewelry is proud to be a recognized elite retailer for A.JAFFE, which means we offer a more extensive design selection than other retailers.  Meticulously designed and masterfully crafted, A.JAFFE engagement rings can be customized to “represent the woman who wears it.”  The designs of the rings range from vintage to modern, antique to contemporary and are crafted to be admired from every angle.

A.JAFFE was established in 1892 when A. Abraham Jaffe set up a shop in downtown New York City and was one of the first jewelers to move his business to West 47th Street, which became an epicenter for the international jewelry world.  Every master jeweler working for the company has at least ten years’ experience and has been trained in the skills and knowledge passed down through the generations.  Each A.JAFFE ring takes up to 80 hours to create and includes the jeweler’s signature design, “a subtle squaring of the shank to minimize twisting and maximize comfort.”

All of the diamonds in an A.JAFFE design are mined in countries that fully participate in the Kimberley Process Certification scheme, which is the international system in place to eliminate the trade of "conflict diamonds."  Also A.JAFFE jewelry is set in gold that is 100% nickel free to ensure they are hypo-allergenic.  Their 18 karat white gold is alloyed with 40% more palladium than other jewelers to ensure their rings remain bright white for many years to come.

Once you visit our website to browse our A.JAFFE collection, we invite you to come in to one of our three showrooms in downtown San Francisco or our store in St. Helena, CA in Napa Valley.  Jewelry this stunning must be seen in person.

Three Stone Engagement Rings at Padis

A popular option in engagement rings is three stone rings set with a center diamond and two outer diamonds or gemstones.  Many people chose the design as a way to symbolize the past, present and future with the center and biggest stone representing the present surrounded by the past and future.  Three stone rings are available in a wide range of styles from vintage to modern.

A traditional graduation is when the two outer stones total the carat weight of the center, middle stone such as a one carat center stone and two ½ carat side stones.  Another arrangement is for all three stones to be the same carat weight.  A slightly graduated three stone ring has a smaller degree of carat difference between the three stones.

Three stone rings offer the advantage of providing a lot of bling and can make smaller carat rings appear to be much bigger.  They also give you the opportunity to get a couple of different style stone cuts, add two colored gemstones to the ring and so forth.

We encourage you to visit the Padis Jewelry website to browse through our selection of three stone engagement rings from some of the top designers in the industry.  You will find names such a Simon G., Tacori, Scott Kay, Verragio, A. Jaffe and much more.   Our site highlights several Verragio Venetian rings including an 18K white gold pavé diamond three stone setting, featured with a 1 Ct round center stone (not included in price).  Another completely different style is from the “Simply Tacori” collection that epitomizes contemporary, minimalist looks with heirloom flair.  The ring features an 18K white solitaire setting with pavé prongs.

After you are done browsing through our stunning collection, take the next step and set up an appointment to visit one of our three San Francisco showrooms.  Also if you plan to vacation in the Napa Valley area this summer, be sure to visit the Padis Jewelry Padis Romance store in St. Helena, CA.
