Huge Selection of Stunning Engagement Rings

At Padis Jewelry, we know our customers have one thing in common – a love of gorgeous jewelry that is priced at an exceptional value.  We also know tastes vary, lifestyles differ, and budgets are not equal, which is why we offer the best selection of engagement rings in the Bay Area.  So whether you are looking for a solitaire, halo, or three stone engagement ring, the knowledgeable, friendly staff at Padis Jewelry will help you find the perfect ring.

Industry statistics show that sales of halo rings are just behind the most popular solitaire, which may be due to a renewed interest in vintage and antique designs.  The origin of halo rings dates back to the early Georgian era (1714-1837) and consisted of round diamonds or pearls that were only slightly smaller than the center stone.   The design later became popular in the 1920’s Art Deco period.

Today’s halo rings typically have a center stone encircled by a collection of round pavé, or micro-pavé diamonds and may use colored gemstones.  The sparkle of the small stones draws attention to the center stone helping to make it look like a bigger carat size.  It also offers many unique styles and finish options.

Three stone rings are another popular option for engagement rings and they too offer lots of variety and choice including vintage or modern designs.  The ring can be set with a center diamond and two outer diamonds or colored gemstones and many choose the design as a way to symbolize the past, present and future.

A three stone ring’s traditional graduation consists of two outer stones totaling the carat weight of the center.  Another option is to have all three stones the exact same carat weight or a slight smaller graduation between the two outer stones and the center one.   Both halo and three stone rings help make smaller-sized carat diamonds appear larger and provide plenty of bling.

A Mother’s Day Tribute to the Incredible Women in Our Lives

By Steve Padis

As Mother’s Day approaches, we take a moment to appreciate the people in our lives who make it all happen. There is something extra-special about the women in our lives who make home, “home.”  My wife Judy is my rock; an amazing partner, spouse, friend, and mother to our four kids. I am so grateful to her for all she does for our family. She is remarkable in so many ways and I feel so blessed to call her my wife.

Naturally, I am especially proud of our partnership with Forevermark on the Tribute™ Collection, a collection that celebrates the uniqueness and importance of the women and moments that make our lives special. A Forevermark diamond is distinctive for many reasons, not least of which is its unalterable inscription, located inside the heart of the diamond itself – a true mark of integrity. These diamonds come with a promise: every single diamond is responsibly sourced, as well as beautiful and rare.

The Forevermark Tribute™ Collection celebrates the unique and brilliant woman who wears it. The pieces can be worn stacked or layered to reflect individual style and character. When combined, the look features multiple diamonds, paying tribute to the many qualities that together make you the incredible woman you are. The Forevermark Tribute Collection is perfect for symbolizing your own distinct traits, or for celebrating the many qualities of the woman you adore.

Less than 1% of the world’s diamonds have the qualities to become a Forevermark diamond. The rarity and beauty of the Forevermark diamond is the perfect center to a piece of jewelry to celebrate life’s most precious moments. A Forevermark diamond to commemorate those memories is the perfect marriage of strength and beauty, inspired by the women who hold our world together.

Padis Jewelry has an extensive selection of Forevermark diamonds --- in fact the largest in the country.  When you visit, you’ll also find a beautiful array of fine jewelry and timepieces from many other luxury brands such as Tacori, Mémoire, A. JAFFE, Verragio, Henri Daussi, Michael M., Simon G., Scott Kay, Breitling, TAG Heuer, and Michele.

Our team at Padis is here and ready to help with all of your shopping needs both in our stores and on our website at padisjewelry.com. We treasure the generations of families who allow us to become a part of their most precious moments. From our family to yours, we wish you a very happy Mother’s Day!

New Sales Record Set at Sotheby’s Auction

A few weeks ago Sotheby’s set a new sales record for a 3.47-carat fancy intense blue diamond ring.  The exquisite blue stone sold for $6,663,300 at auction, which totaled $1.92-million-per-carat making it the highest price ever paid for a stone of its grade.  More surprising was the fact that the actually sale price was almost triple the $2 million to $2.5 million estimated by Sotheby before the auction.

This is due to blue diamonds now considered to be the rarest and most expensive of all diamonds.  In fact the Tel Aviv-based Fancy Color Research Foundation says that the value of blue diamonds has been rising faster than the value of either pink or yellow diamonds.

Another reason the rings garnered such a high price at auction is fancy colored stones are graded based on their color quality.  The GIA explains the ring was graded “fancy intense,” which is the second highest color grade and just behind “fancy vivid.”

The known history of the ring began shortly after WWII when a Pan AM pilot bought the ring to give it to a Pan AM stewardess who later became his wife.  The pilot died shortly after the couple married but the wife held on to the ring for many decades.   During this time there was not a market for fancy colored diamonds and they were not considered to be anywhere near as valuable as colorless diamonds.  At one point, the ring was briefly dropped in a garbage disposal and has a small chip on it.

Eventually the ring was passed on to a daughter in the 1990.  It was appraised in 2006 for $150,000.  Needless to say the family was thrilled with the auction results.

Another fancy intense blue diamond went on auction around the same time.  The 3.09 Ct ring sold for $5,375,000, which was $1.74 million per carat.  Christie, who sold the diamond, had estimated the ring would sell somewhere in the range of $2 million to $3 million.  While Padis Jewelry obviously does not have diamonds of this extremely rare quality, we do have a large inventory of exquisite diamonds that are sure to please.

Since 1974, Padis Jewelry has been a trusted source for buying exquisite certified loose diamonds, engagement rings and fine jewelry.  We are one of the only jewelers in the area that offers such an exclusive selection of top names in the industry as well as such a large inventory.  If you are a lover of beautiful jewels, please schedule at visit to San Francisco’s top jewelry store.

Not Sure You Still Love Your Engagement Ring?

A recent Glamour article says the 2018 engagement ring motto is that “anything goes.”   They explain that what were once unusual stone choices for bridal jewelry, such as trillion, marquise, and pear shapes are now beginning to be trendy.  Another new sophisticated look is using natural Fancy Grey diamonds, which are far rarer than yellow or brown diamonds although typically priced in that range.

Other trends include unusual cuts such as a thinly cut diamond known as a portrait-cut, or a rose-cut stone that is flat on the bottom with a dome-shaped top.  Several of last year’s trends continue to be strong including geometric silhouettes and mixed-metal rings.

When a couple is drawn to an unusual styled engagement ring, they may worry their taste could change down the road but jewelry consultants say there is no need to worry.  If you love the ring now, get it and enjoy it.  If later on, you do not feel the same about it, you can easily have the ring reset.  If fact it is not uncommon for couples to re-design their engagement ring in celebration of an important anniversary or other reasons.

If your original engagement ring now seems too traditional and you would like something with a more modern edge to it, or perhaps the other way around, Padis Jewelry can help you to choose a ring that more closely suits your lifestyle.  With a large collection of top name designers such as Tacori, Verragio, Gabriel NY, Jeff Cooper Designs, Ritani, Forevermark, Henri Daussi, Sylvie, Simon G., and Scott Kay among others, we can help you find the perfect ring.

Or if you would like, our experienced jewelers will help you to design something uniquely your own.  Please visit our website to learn more about Padis Jewelry and schedule a visit to one of our gorgeous San Francisco showrooms.

As a family owned and operated family business, Padis Jewelry is grateful to both new customers and those who have remained steadfastly loyal to us throughout the years.   We always look forward to welcoming clients into our showrooms and helping them to select the perfect piece of jewelry to commemorate one of life’s special moments.

As a way to show appreciation to our customers, we periodically offer exclusive access to exciting trips, interactive educational seminars, sought-after restaurant reservations, and more.  One recent event was a contest for a VIP Trip to the Grammys in NYC.  The prize included the flights and hotel stay gifted by Padis along with transportation and tickets to the black-tie pre-party and the Grammys that were sponsored by Bulova.

At one of our special Padis Jewelry showroom events, longtime customers Bill and Samantha Lee (Bill purchased Samantha’s engagement ring at Padis eight years ago) came in with their children to enjoy the festive atmosphere and snacks.  It was during this visit that they entered the Grammy trip contest.  Imagine the family’s surprise when their name was drawn as the Grand Prize Winner!

Judy Padis handled most of the logistical planning for Bill and Samantha, who had not been to New York since before they were married.  The couple stayed at the Grand Hyatt and had a chance to visit Grand Central Station, have an intimate dinner at a charming NYC restaurant, the Osteria Laguna, and to do some sightseeing.  As Bill says, “It’s an once-in-a-lifetime kind of win.”

We invite everyone who loves beautiful jewelry to schedule an appointment to visit our large showrooms located in the heart of the San Francisco Wholesale Jewelry District.
